The AGEM Index, which follows nine publicly traded gaming suppliers, fell 6.1% in September 2026 to 1,811.01 points. It was the index's first monthly decline since March 2026.

Aristocrat Leisure Limited and Light & Wonder Inc. made the largest negative contributions.

What happened

The index shed 118.24 points over the course of September. Year on year, it was lower by 114.20 points, a fall of 5.9%, according to figures from the Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers (AGEM) as reported by Yogonet and CDC Gaming Reports.

Eight of the nine constituents recorded lower share prices. That produced nine negative contributions to the index and none that were positive.

The two biggest contributors were:

  • Aristocrat Leisure Limited: shares fell 2.3%, a drag of 46.60 points on the index.
  • Light & Wonder Inc.: shares fell 16.8%, which reduced the index by 39.12 points.

Light & Wonder's share price decline followed an announcement that SciPlay, the group's social-casino unit, will lose its chief executive at the end of October.

The move in suppliers' shares coincided with a mixed month for US equities. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 4.3% in September and the S&P 500 fell 0.5%, while the Nasdaq rose 1.9%.

AGEM publishes the index monthly. Five of the nine companies are based in the United States and trade on the New York Stock Exchange, on Nasdaq or over the counter. Three are listed on the Australian stock exchange and one in Tokyo. The index uses month-end share prices, adjusted for dividends and stock splits, and weights companies by approximate market capitalisation. Non-US market capitalisations are converted into US dollar equivalents at month-end values so that they can be compared.

Why it matters

Operators and affiliates that work with Light & Wonder's social-casino business could check whether the SciPlay leadership change affects their contacts or commercial arrangements with the unit.

Because the index is built from month-end share prices, it is likely to be of limited use as a guide to supplier sales, product demand or operator spending. It covers only nine companies, and the weighting by approximate market capitalisation means the largest names shape the result.

Suppliers' share prices could influence how they plan investment and product launches, which in turn could affect the content that operators and affiliates draw on. Operators would need to look to company announcements for any such changes.

What's next

The SciPlay chief executive is due to leave at the end of October, according to the announcement cited in the reports. AGEM publishes the index monthly, so the next reading will cover October.
