Player props made up 14.2% of WSF Odds' turnover and 20.9% of its gross gaming revenue (GGR) in June and July 2026, the months of the FIFA World Cup. Before the tournament, the shares were 10.4% and 15.4%, according to data from the sports betting technology provider, reported by iGaming Business.

Goalscorer markets also remained strong, which suggests the growth in individual-player and performance betting did not come at the expense of traditional markets.

What happened

WSF Odds provides football odds, both pre-match and live, covering player props, team props and match props. It operates in more than 30 countries and covers 99 football competitions. Its dataset draws on operators including Betclic, Betsson and Tipsport, along with distribution partners such as Altenar.

Overall, the supplier recorded €389m in turnover and €61.4m in GGR from October 2025 to May 2026. In June and July, turnover was €163.8m and GGR was €27.1m. WSF Odds put average monthly turnover in the tournament months at around 68% above the earlier period, and average monthly GGR at around 76% above. Its overall margin moved from 15.8% to 16.5%.

Key category figures for June and July:

  • Player props: a turnover share of 14.2% and a GGR share of 20.9%, with a margin of 24.3% against 23.5% before the tournament.
  • Goalscorer markets: 29.4% of turnover, compared with 28.8% before the tournament. WSF Odds says its goalscorer offer now includes 42 markets, including Supersub and method-of-goal formats.
  • Team and match markets: the largest category, with a turnover share of about 44% and a GGR share of 36%. Team and match shots produced around €30.8m, and team and match shots on goal around €22.6m.
  • Player shots on goal: the biggest player performance market, at €12.2m turnover and €2.2m GGR. WSF Odds also reported that activity was meaningful in player assists, player shots and player cards.
  • Combo markets: pre-built multi-selection products launched shortly before the tournament. Their turnover was around €20.3m and their GGR just over €5m, about 12% and 19% of the totals for the period.

WSF Odds product owner Filippo Celleno said: "We did not see bettors abandoning goalscorer markets." He described the shift as a broadening of the football offer around individual players. WSF Odds sales director Sam Hill said performance markets give bettors another way into a match when picking a winner is harder, and can keep customers engaged throughout a match.

Hill also said casual viewers see the same star players repeatedly during a tournament, and that casual bettors should not need to search through a long sportsbook menu to find player-specific markets.

Why it matters

Operators may want to check how prominently player props, performance markets and pre-built combos appear in their sportsbook menus, particularly if they rely on casual bettors acquired around major tournaments. Hill said casual bettors should not need to search through a long menu to find player-specific markets.

The margin figures are relevant to commercial planning. Player props carried a higher GGR share than turnover share, and a higher margin than the supplier's overall figure. Operators without an extensive live Bet Builder could look at pre-built Combo products as a route to multi-selection betting, as the iGaming Business report describes them.

Affiliates working with sportsbook partners could see product mix shift towards these markets, although the figures come from one supplier's client base and cover a single tournament. Whether the pattern carries over to ordinary domestic fixtures is not yet established.

What's next

Celleno said WSF Odds intends to set the opening stretch of the domestic season against both the World Cup period and the months preceding it. The company will track whether player props retain a bigger share of turnover and GGR, or whether the mix reverts to the earlier level. He said that comparison would indicate whether the World Cup produced a short-lived tournament effect or carried into club football.
